What is EMS?

EMS stands for Electro Muscular Stimulation. EMS Training works with electric impulses which are similar to the body’s natural stimulus transductions. These additional impulses are stimulating muscles via the adjustable full body EMS Training Suit. Therefore, this state of the art technology combined with training allows all the benefits of a 4 hour workout in only 20 minutes.

How EMS works

During conventional strength training the brain sends impulses which stimulates the muscles to contract. However, not all muscles have a well-developed connection to the brain. Therefore, the muscles are not activated quite as easily and will not develop as well as they could.

EMS stimulates all of the major muscle groups. EMS also helps to develop the motoric nerve connections relating to muscle movement. By sending electric impulses directly to these motoric nerves, even the weakly connected muscles are activated.

Because the muscles are activated with the aid of EMS, Combined with Bodytech’s custom EMS workouts a more intense level of training is enabled from the start. This allows the creation of more muscle fibre at an accelerated rate. More active muscle tissue requires more energy intake which therefore burns more calories, even at rest!

The history of EMS

EMS has been used for many centuries. The earliest known use was by the Ancient Egyptians over 2000 years ago. They discovered the electrical properties in fish which they used to treat pain and ailments such as gout. The first scientific evidence that concluded that electro currents can in fact activate muscles was by Luigi Galvani (1761). During the 19th and 20th centuries, researchers studied and documented the exact electrical properties that generate muscle movement. It was discovered that the body functions are actually induced by electrical stimulation.  In the 1960s, Soviet sport scientists applied EMS in the training of elite athletes, claiming 40% increased gains.

The Benefits of EMS training

Getting fit and exercising isn’t as simple as going to the gym and watching what you eat! That’s why many people choose a Personal Trainer to guide them along the way. In recent years science has explained more and more about how your body works and what it truly means to be healthy. You might be surprised to learn that EMS training delivers a broad range of health and fitness benefits as detailed below:

Strengthens muscles and tones body

With the electrodes placed directly onto your body, it works each muscle group and ensures that each set of impulses works the target area on your body. EMS delivers a full body workout in every session, activating over 90% of the muscle fibers.

Rapid and effective weight loss

Through the specific exercises offered by the EMS system, you’ll rapidly burn up calories making this a great way of shifting fat and losing the pounds. Burn up to 2500 calories in one session alone.

Reduce cellulite and increase blood flow

The EMS system generates faster blood flow to the targeted muscles – one of the best ways of reducing cellulite in problem areas. it accelerates blood circulation and stimulating surrounding muscles, ridding your body of metabolic waste which will be dispersed and processed through the lymphatic system-your body’s natural filtration system.

Gentle on your joints

The EMS system is one of the best ways to recover from injury as the system places absolutely no strain on your joints and tendons. This is revolutionary for those with joint problems or injuries, who have previously found exercise to be difficult.

Improves your posture

Using a set of targeted electrodes, stimulation is created throughout your spinal column, which has been proven to help with back problems and posture. EMS will aid your tight, overworked muscles and give them a chance to relax and let go so that you can experience more movement and less pain.

Time effective

Your time is valuable – too valuable to spend it on time consuming and ineffective training sessions. Fast track your weight loss and fitness goals with 2×20 minutes of EMS training per week which is equivelent to 4-6 hours of ordinary gym training. Now you can get the body that you want in less time.

Rehabilitation

The XBody system is an ideal partner during rehabilitation, because the electrical impulses are absolutely not putting any extra load on the joints, so this training can also be applied in the case of some injuries. In medical applications the Electro Muscle Stimulator devices have been safely used for decades. XBody’s rehabilitation helps a lot of Professional Atheletes like Anita Görbitz, who experienced the positive effects of electrical impulses after a serious knee surgery.

EMS Technology

The BodyTech EMS Solution uses low electrical stimulation which helps to increase the benefit of what you could get doing a normal workout. So in one 20 minute session you will train all your muscles in a way which is the equivalent of 2-4 hours of heavy exercising. Press play on the video below to find out how EMS works

Commonly Asked Questions

EMS training has been widely used across the world and is available in over 52 countries with over 4000 EMS studios in operation today. However, EMS is relatively new to Australia. Here are some commonly asked questions about EMS training that you may have answered below:

What is EMS

EMS stands for Electric Muscle Stimulation and it has been widely used in physiotherapy for decades with great results. With the electrodes placed directly onto your body via a customised bodysuit, it works each muscle group and ensures that each set of impulses works the targeted muscle groups at the same time. EMS delivers a full body workout in every session, activating over 90% of the muscle fibers. Its rapidly expanding use as a Whole Body Training method provides the perfect combination of a highly effective strength and cardio training.

Who can use EMS?

The EMS system is designed for any age and body type – from the young sportsperson through to older people looking for help with mobility and fitness. Think it might be for you? Arrange a Free Trial and find out.

Does EMS Hurt?

Even though there is an electrical current involved with the EMS system it is very low impulse and completely safe, gentle and will not cause you any pain or discomfort as you exercise.

Can I get electrocuted?

The chance of an electric shock is absolutely zero.

Our machines use the most up-to-date scientific results in the background. These methods are also used in medical applications; the electrical muscle stimulators play an important role in the area of rehabilitation. Our Machines are infact safer than some Hospital Devices.

How long does it take to see results?

The results are impressive, usually after ten training sessions with proper regularity and nutrition.

For the most efficient results it is necessary to consume appropriate nutrients and it is really important to construct your diet with the right amounts of fat, vitamins, carbohydrates and proteins.

Can I train with EMS while Pregnant?

No.

The electrical impulses might hurt the fetus, so we do not recommend our  training for pregnant women.

Of course Bodytech can be an ideal partner for rehabilitation and reforming of the body after child-birth.

How does EMS Work?

During traditional strength training the brain sends impulses which stimulate certain muscles to contract. However, not all muscles have a well-developed connection to the brain and these muscles are not activated as easily and therefore they will not develop so well.
EMS Training stimulates all the major muscle groups and also helps to develop the motoric nerve connections relating to muscle movement. By sending electric impulses directly to these motoric nerves, even the weakly connected muscles are activated.
Because muscle fibers are activated in a non-regular order with EMS Training, a more intense level of training is enabled from the start, which creates more muscle fiber at an accelerated rate. More active muscle tissue requires more energy intake which therefore burns more calories, even at rest!

How often can I train with EMS?

2×20 Minutes per week is all you need to start seeing results. Some clients chose to do 3×20 sessions per week which is the maximum sessions per week allowed as you must allow your muscles time to recover.

Is EMS Training Safe?

EMS technology uses electrical currents to stimulate the muscles and it has been widely used in physiotherapy for decades with great results. Our device has been tested vigorously and meets the Australian and worldwide safety standards. It has also won many internationally recognised awards.
