Multiple Sclerosis Therapy with EMS

Multiple Sclerosis Therapy

Muscle training for MS

Bodytech’s Multiple Sclerosis therapy in Sydney has recently seen wonderful results with our clients that suffer from Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

EMS, also known as neuromuscular electrical stimulation, is the elicitation of muscle contraction using mild electric impulses. Bodytech’s state of the art EMS training is facilitated through wearing our advanced bodysuit.

People suffering from MS may find exercise very difficult due to fatigue, nerve damage, and muscle deconditioning that is caused by MS. This can contribute to reducing the bodies functional abilities. Regular exercise is beneficial and encouraged for those that are managing MS symptoms. EMS can help reverse the deconditioning of muscles due to inactivity because it forces the muscles to contract despite the damage caused by EMS.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has stated that applying a mild electrical stimulus to the muscle can help it move better. EMS provides external assistance that forces the muscles to contract, which counteracts the MS’s damage to the bodies nerves.

Case Study

Meredith suffers from MS in its advanced stage. In October 2019, Meredith started training in one of our Sydney based EMS Studios to see if it would assist her in improving her quality of life. When Meredith First started training at Bodytech, she could not walk or get out of her wheelchair. After 3 months of training with Bodytech 2×20 minutes per week, Meredith can now stand and walk! She attributes this all to the training she has done at Bodytech Fitness. This is an incredibly proud result for the Bodytech Fitness Team.

In 2×20 minutes per week, MS sufferers can experience a better quality of life; enquire with us about our mobile service or visit us in one of our EMS studios in Sydney.
